Meet Jonathan Gedeon

Marriage and Family Therapist Intern

Jonathan joins us as an intern from a Marriage and Family therapy program at National University. Originally from San Diego, Jonathan grew up hiking, surfing, and camping with his family and friends. His time in the Navy took him all the way to the east coast and into a 10-year career in engineering. After experience with nuclear, electrical, and mechanical engineering in the Navy and civilian sectors, he decided that it was time to make a change and pivot into something he was passionate about. After completing his theoretical courses, Jonathan is now beginning his practical education as an MFT under the supervision of Kelle DeBruin.

Jonathan’s approach is humanistic, experiential, and deeply empathetic. He remains non-judgmental, and active in his support of the client in front of him. He wants to use his understanding and compassion to bridge the gap between feeling stuck and the healing process. With so many different peoples and cultures, how can there be just one way to live beautifully? He describes himself as a collaborator on the journey of removing the barriers to living well.

Jonathan’s approaches include Emotionally Focused (EFT), Narrative, Collaborative Language Systems (CLS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With his background in trauma, he is also trained use in the use of more targeted modalities like STAIR and Cognitive Processing Theory (CPT). While his specialty focused on veteran and military families, he is ready and able to work with anyone who walks through the door.
