Meet Peter Taylor

Clinical Social Worker Associate

Peter has a master’s of social work from the University of Denver and a master’s of public health from the University of Colorado, where he specialized in climate and disaster resilience and community behavioral health. He also has an associate’s degree in music from Boise State University and a bachelor of arts in social work from Utah State University where he also minored in American Sign Language and sociology.

Peter takes a client-centered approach to therapy; his purpose as a mental health professional is to support his clients in defining and achieving their goals. He believes that sometimes a person’s problems come from their own thoughts, behaviors, and choices, but many times they come from outside, and that for a treatment plan to be truly successful it needs to both internal and external factors into consideration.

He’s experienced in Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and mindfulness therapeutic techniques.

Peter is passionate about men’s mental and behavioral health, and about pulling down barriers and stigmas that often prevent men from reaching out for help. He’s also dedicated much of his professional career to supporting refugees and immigrants and their families. For his capstone project (much like a master’s thesis) at the University of Colorado, he created a framework for implementing a client wellbeing specialist position at immigration law firms. He is also fluent in Spanish and is currently trying to learn Chinese.
