Meet Erin Bush
Professional Counselor Associate
Erin has always felt a strong pull to human-oriented work and is passionate about getting to know people on a deeper level. She came to counseling after working in the community mental health field and finding herself drawn to do more individualized work. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oregon State University.
Erin believes that we are all doing the best we can with the tools we have at any given moment. What we see as problems within us are often ways we have learned to cope and survive our circumstances. Whether that is the environment you grew up in or your experiences of trauma, discrimination, or oppression, Erin believes that you are not a problem that needs to be fixed, but that you may have problems that feel too heavy to carry on your own.
Erin uses an eclectic approach with an emphasis on person-centered counseling. She believes that each person is unique and requires an individualized approach to therapy. She draws from various theories based on what is needed at the time including CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness approaches. Erin views her clients as the expert on their own lived experiences and herself as a guide to help explore thoughts and feelings on the path to self-discovery, change, and healing.
Erin works from a multicultural framework, acknowledging that each person’s unique identities impacts their experience in this world. It is important to her to create an environment where every person feels respected, seen, and celebrated for all aspects of their identity. Erin works with teens and adults on a variety of topics including depression, anxiety, identity exploration, trauma, stress, interpersonal conflict, grief and loss, perfectionism, sleep issues, and life transitions.
